The congress will take place at the:
Sant'Andrea delle Dame
Address: Piazzetta Sant' Andrea delle Dame, 9
The Sant’Andrea delle Dame complex originally functioned as a monastery: The Monastery of Sant’Andrea delle Dame, originally known as “delle Monache”. It was founded in 1587 by the four Palescandolo sisters from Vico Equense, daughters of a local notary. With the support of Archbishop Annibale di Capua and the approval of Pope Gregory XIII, it became home to the Augustinian Hermit Nuns. The church, consecrated in 1639, was initially accessible only from within the monastery. Today, its entrance faces directly onto the street. Its rectangular floor plan reflects the liturgical and architectural principles of the Counter-Reformation. The cloister is one of the most remarkable features: a wide, harmonious space framed by piperno-stone arches and pillars, embracing a lush central garden. Over the centuries, the complex underwent significant transformations. In 1864, the nuns were expelled and the site temporarily housed homeless families. Later, in 1896, it was adapted into a University Clinic. This role continues today, as the complex is part of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli.” After the 1980 earthquake, the church was carefully restored, preserving its architectural integrity, though it is no longer active as a place of worship.
